Description

Vasona Lake County Park is a wonderful park with tons of activities. You can play at the playgrounds, hike the trails, picnic, ride the rails, go boating, practice paddle boarding, ride bikes, play an informal game of soccer or softball, visit the Youth Science Institute or just people watch. At 150 acres, there's something for everyone.

Vasona Lake County Park is adjacent to the beautiful Oak Meadow Park which has a carousel, picnic areas, and a fantastic playground with a replica jet that kids can play on. You can also take a miniature train ride on the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad which originates in Oak Meadow and runs through Vasona Park.

The park is also part of the Los Gatos Creek trail which follows Los Gatos Ceek for 14 miles. The trail also leads to the Los Gatos Creek County Park.

There's plenty of parking lots and plenty of picnic sites. We just threw a blanket on the grass next to the playground and enjoyed a picnic lunch. Next time we go, I want to visit the Youth Science Institute located at the park's north end. It features live animals that live in the Guadalupe Watershed, programs that interpret science and inspire young scientists, and classes dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the natural environment.

Another great reason to visit Vasona is the free, outdoor concerts held every Saturday in June and July. Called Vasona Vibrations they're a fantastic way for local artists to get exposure and for visitors to hear great, live music.
