Universal Studios Hollywood certainly has earned the moniker "The Entertainment Capital of L.A.".

There's the theme park with its rides and attractions; the studio tour narrated by Jimmy Fallon; the City Walk with its many dining options, possible experiences (iFly anyone?), nightspots, and shopping opportunities. There's a 19 screen cinema with an 8-story IMAX screen. And don't forget the live music and concerts at the Gibson Amphitheater.

In short, there's a lot more to do there than just visit the theme park. In fact, many people go and don't even enter the theme park.

Most of the rides in the theme park are probably not for little kids in addition to the height restrictions. I know "King Kong 360-3D" which was created by Peter Jackson would scare the pants off my 8 year old son. The Simpsons Ride was amazing, but put it this way, the two little kids who were with their big sister in the car with us were not happy.

Little kids would probably enjoy The Adventures of Curious George and Shrek 4-D, but the wait for Shrek 4-D took forever. If you have to entertain a hot, bored kid that long, it may not be worth it.

New for 2016 is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and a new Walking Dead attraction. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is pretty amazing. Butterbeer anyone?

Universal Studios has surge pricing for 1-day park tickets. That means the admission price fluctuates based on crowd expectations for the particular day. A weekend day in July will cost more than a weekday day in January. You can buy a "Front of Line Ticket" starting at $189 which includes park admission and priority access at each ride and attraction.

I was really impressed with Universal Studios, but really disappointed with their prices.
