Description
Sonoma TrainTown is a great little amusement park on Broadway as you head into Sonoma. The highlight of the amusement park is clearly the train ride.
The train rides are on miniature trains and are about 25 minutes long. They cost $4.75 for everyone 15 months and older. The train winds its way through ten acres of landscaped park full of trees, tunnels, ponds, bridges, and waterfalls. There is even a miniature town that the train makes a 10 minute stop at. At this stop you can explore the historic replica structures or feed and pet the llamas, goats, sheep, ducks, and other farm animals. Be sure to bring along quarters for the feed machines.
In addition to the train there are other vintage amusement park rides through out the park such as the scrambler, the airplanes, a roller coaster named The Dragon Train, a Ferris Wheel, swings, and a merry-go-round.
There is also a round house with the trains on display and sometimes you can watch the engineers working on the trains. A snack bar is open and no outside food or drink is allowed.
The setting for the park great and the train ride is just lovely. There is plenty of shade and lots of benches by the rides. Don't bother bringing in a stroller, since the paths are crushed rock and uneven. There is also very little space to park the strollers. The part of the park that is accessible by foot is not all that big anyway.
