San Lorenzo Park is tucked way back in the area of the city with the streets named Via. It is a wonderful park with big, wide open spaces.
The park is probably most famous for its duck lagoon with a fountain and very active recreation center. It has many different features such as two play structures, two lighted basketball courts, ball fields, a regulation sized, fenced soccer field, an off leash dog run, and a flat path that is great for riding bikes around the park.
The play area has two structures, one for ages 2-5 years and one for ages 5-12 years. There are lots of climbing opportunities, a bridge, neat slides, and a cool bouncy thing. There are bathrooms right next to the play area along with several picnic tables and shade trees.
Clearly, a big draw to the park is its duck lagoon. Beware that with ducks and geese comes poop. With that said we really enjoyed getting close to the geese. They have been fed one to many times and are not afraid of humans at all.
We also liked San Lorenzo Park for two other reasons. It was so quiet since it is so far back from any major roads. No fast traffic to be worried about. Also, it is especially close to the Hayward Airport and near the Oakland Airport so we got to watch lots and lots of planes. Very cool!
