What a treat Ryland Park was to find. I love the design of the play areas and the train theme that's clearly visibly throughout.
Everything was in great condition and was very welcoming. I know it's a popular park, because I visited at 9 am on a gray Saturday and a couple of young men had been sent ahead to set-up for a party. Their mothers would have been proud. It was 9 on the dot, and everything was already set-up. It was clear that that picnic area was party central.
The parking lot is at the back of the park, off of North San Pedro St. The play areas are right next to the parking lot. I liked this a lot since it means that the kids are away from busy 1st Street.
The big kid play area has a handicapped swing that is actually accessible via wheelchair. It also has a neat swinging platform, a rolling log, and a zip line.
The little kid play area has a climbing, spinning tree, and a cool train set-up. It's also completely fenced in.
In addition to the great play areas, there are 1.5 basketball courts, a small par course, bathrooms, and a public swimming pool.
