Description

Ryder Park is a beautiful bayside park. It, along with Seal Point Park and Harborview Park, make up San Mateo's Shoreline Park System. The San Francisco Bay Trail connects all three parks.

The park is newer and very clean. It has a great water play area with cement fountains and a nice, big covered picnic area. The day we visited a birthday party was setting up (with a jumpy house too) and I thought "What a great location".

It has a sand pit with a crab and snail for climbing on. The rest of the play area has rubberized ground covering, which for the awesome climbing dome is probably a good thing. There is not a lot of shade since the park is new, but there was a good breeze that day and I imagine there usually is breeze since it is next to the bay.

Ryder Park's location is fantastic. It is right next to sloughs and mud flats. There is a path you can take to get right down next to them. In addition, there are several flat paths for riding bikes and of course, there's the bay trail. A gorgeous suspension foot/ biking bridge is also nearby. Plus, SFO is just north so planes are heading in for landing next to the park. What fun!
