Old Highlands Park is a neat little park on a one-way street nestled in the hills above Cal State East Bay. There is only one play structure, but it is safe for both ages 2-5 (with supervision) and ages 5-12. It is right next to an entrance to the Hayward Greenbelt. My kids were tickled to see two deer at the park when they got out of the car.
The play structure has three straight slides and one spiral slide. The ground covering is tanbark. There are two big kid swings, two tot swings, and one tire swing.
Above the play area are two horseshoe pits. However, the ground is not flat and they are situated among the trees. There is a picnic table near the play area and some benches.
I thought the park was very serene and peaceful. I also liked that there was an entrance to the Greenbelt, so if you wanted to be more adventurous and take a hike, you easily could.
