Description

Millenium Playground at Memorial Park is a wonderful playground. I love its practical design, yet whimsical themes. We spent a couple of hours here on a warm winter day.

The playground was built over a 1 week period in May of 2000 with the help of 1,500 volunteers. The principal designers of the playground were the children of San Anselmo. How cool is that?

Millenium Playground has so many cool things. There's the seminary tower, the train depot and the Town Hall Tower which reflect San Anselmo's history; the huge dinosaur that guards the sand pit; the walk-through mask; and the lookout stations high above the playground floor that make it so special. It truly is a place where imagination reigns supreme.

The playground is divided into two play areas. As you enter, head to the left for the toddler section and the train or head to the right for the big kid area and the dinosaur. Both areas have tanbark, but both have sand pits. There isn't a lot of shade over the play areas, but there are trees along the perimeter and benches there too.

Memorial Park has 3 ball fields, 4 tennis courts, a big parking lot, and is right next to the Isabel Cook Recreation Center. There is so much to do at this park- if you're in the area, definitely stay and play.
