Description

Memorial Park is Albany's main city park. It is heavily used for formal community gatherings such as concerts, outdoor movie festivals, and July 4th celebrations. It's also heavily used informally by teenagers from neighboring Albany High School during breaks and lunch hour, by toddlers playing at the recently renovated playgrounds, and by students who attend the Teen Center's after-school program.

Families can be found picnicking there. Dog owners play catch with their four-legged friends in the fields. Tennis players practice their games on the four tennis courts and Albany's Little Leaguers knock one out of the park on the two ball fields. The Albany Aquatic Center is also right next door to the Veteran's Building and playgrounds.

Memorial Park was likely first founded in the 1920's. It has survived the tests of time and is still a central meeting place for the community. We loved the renovated play areas; especially the big, tall play structure.
