Meek Park is located on the grounds of the Meek Mansion in Hayward. The play structure is older, but unique and the grounds are gorgeous! I think it is a really nice park.
The main play area consists of three play structures and a really tall slide. One play structure has a spiral staircase leading up to its tall, tube slide. That particular structure resembles the mansion and its bell tower.
There are numerous slides, a bridge, and the tower. There is another play area a little ways away with the swings and a tire swing.
Meek has a beautiful pavilion with picnic tables that is surrounded by lattice work filled with flowers and vines right next to the play area. The bathrooms and parking lot are right next to that. Overall, the grounds have a lot of mature shade trees. We saw many people picnicking out on the grass in the sun.
There is a rose garden with a fountain near the mansion and the mansion is available for rental for weddings and such. There is a flat path all around the grounds. Since there are no hills, it is easy to supervise kids when they explore the grounds even if they are far away.
The whole park is fenced by the grounds of the mansion, but there are two ungated entrances- one at the Hampton side where the parking lot is and one towards the back of the park that is a foot bridge to Wickman Pl. off of Lewelling.
One neat aspect of the park is its proximity to the BART tracks. The tracks are almost over head towards the back of the park. Every few minutes this leads to total fascination as the BART trains go by.
