Description
Larkey Park is a very popular park in Walnut Creek. There are lots of amenities; best of all is the Lindsay Wildlife Museum. We have been to this park many times over the years and we have never seen the play area empty.
There are two play areas; an older one for the older kids and a newer one for the tots. The older kid area is in sand and the tot area has tanbark with a separate sand play area. The tot play area also has a train play structure.
Larkey is bordered by Buena Vista Ave on the east side, Larkey Lane on the west side, and 1st Ave on the north side. Lindsay Wildlife Museum in on the north side. It also has a parking lot off of 1st Ave. The play areas are right next to the museum and pretty much centered in the park. It's easiest to park at the museum and walk to the play areas, but if that lot's full, park at the lot off of Buena Vista.
The lot off of Buena Vista is also next to the Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society, the swimming center, and closer to the tennis courts, the basketball court, and the sand volleyball court. In addition, the Iron Horse Trail runs next to the park.
We would take a class at the museum in the morning and then play and eat lunch at the park. It's a great way to burn off energy after trying to behave well in the museum.
