Description
Kolb Park is a great neighborhood park in Dublin. In fact, it probably is my favorite park in Dublin. The park has lots of big shade trees and a great grassy area. These both help when the temperature gets high, as it often can in Dublin.
Both play areas are nearest Brighton Drive and are newer and great for their respective age groups.
The ages 2-5 play area has a wonderful play structure for that age group, two tot swings, a rocking car, and is fenced in. The play structure is great because it has two smaller slides and one slightly taller, longer slide. There is also a bridge and a couple of different climbing opportunities. The monkey bars are at a preschooler's height and have tires upright in the tanbark below them that kids can use to boost themselves from one monkey bar to the next. What a great idea.
The ages 5-12 play structure is extensive with a two different climbing walls, a spiral slide, tons of climbing opportunities, and lots of monkey bars. One thing that it had that I really liked was a bridge of sorts that was just made of steps suspended in mid air. My son was nervous at first crossing, but once he realized there were lots of hand rails, he crossed with ease.
Both play areas are right next to the bathrooms and tennis courts. Beyond the tennis courts are several covered picnic areas. There is a great path for walking or riding bikes around the whole park. I felt safe letting my son ride and could see him from the front play areas at just about every point. The park also has picnic benches among the trees across the grass area and interesting public art.
Spring is a wonderful time to visit the park (think March) because many trees have these beautiful white blossoms. The last picture above shows the trees in March.
