If you are reading this you are probably thinking Japanese Gardens, that's not a kid's park. In the strictest sense, no, but it is a really cool park to take kids to. Mine loved watching the koi fish and exploring the gardens.
Hayward's Japanese Gardens were the first Japanese Gardens to be created in California and are believed to have been the first to be created in the Western United States. The designers used painstaking craftsmanship to create the gardens. There is no stain on the wood used in the entry way, the fencing, or the four gazebos. Also, care was taken to assure that all joints were notched before being assembled, and all nails and fasteners are recessed.
The big pond is filled with koi fish, smaller fish, and turtles. There is a small waterfall into the pond. One of the gazebos sits out over the water, it is from here that you can best see the fish. Nearby there is a small walking bridge.
These gardens are beautiful and peaceful, in addition to being a photographer's dream. In fact, on a weekend, it is highly likely you will see a wedding here.
