Description
J.A. Lewis Park is a new park on Hayward Blvd. near Stonebrae Elementary School. The trees are all young and so there is hardly any shade, but there is a big, open feel to the park. Since it is on the edge of a canyon I felt like I could almost touch the sky.
One big plus about this park is that there are bathrooms. There also is a small parking lot, but only for disabled parking. The park has a great path around a big grassy area that's perfect for kids on bikes.
The play area has tanbark covering and two play structures. One play structure is for the bigger kids and the other is for ages 2-5, but they are both very similar. They both have two slides and a couple of extra playthings.
The park is very clean and does have a few benches. One thing that really concerned me is that the street parking is dicey since people are driving rather fast down the hill from the school and country club. The road is wide here, but those that passed me while I was getting one of my kids out of a car seat on the street side were going way too fast.
