Howarth Park is a pretty incredible park. It's even more amazing that it's a community park, run by the city of Santa Rosa. This 152 acre park is a place where you could come several times and still discover new things to do. I'm not exaggerating, it's really cool, especially for a kid.
Howarth Park has a train, pony rides, two great playgrounds with a splash pad, a lake that you can sail on and fish in, a carousel, an animal barn, a jump house, a snack bar, numerous picnic areas, 6 tennis courts, a ball field, the Dig Zone, and miles of hiking and biking trails around the lake and beyond to Spring Lake Regional Park
Some key information: The K-Land Rides are open weekends February through October from 11 am to 5 pm, weather permitting. During the summer, the hours also include Monday-Thursday, 11 am to 5 pm, weather permitting. All K-Land rides and attractions are one ticket and tickets cost $2 each. You can buy a jump house bracelet for all day for $5 and books of tickets- 10 for $17 or 25 for $40. The pony rides start at $3 for one lap and the Dig Zone costs $2. In other words, make sure to bring money.
Kids could just as easily amuse themselves in the play areas. The big Land of Imagination Playground is divided into 5 distinct areas that stimulate the imagination while depicting significant areas of Santa Rosa's history. In the summer, be sure to bring towels/ swim suits for the Sprouting Water Orchard.
We loved Howarth Park, but unfortunately we had to leave to go get lunch. Fortunately there is a Mary's Pizza Shack right across Summerfield Rd. Lunch eaten, we were ready for more exploring in Howarth Park!
