Heritage Park is a cute neighborhood playground in a lovely, peaceful, grassy park. It's located right next to the Museum of American Heritage or MOAH as locals call it.
The playground has 2 structures. Its unique features include a choo-choo train, a dolphin and a personalized wall. The climbing wall is actually a rock for kids ages 5 to 12. Be sure to watch out for the slides and other metal equipment heating up in the sun. It's a good idea to feel how hot the metal is on warm sunny days.
Of special interest is that the park was a cooperative effort between the city of Palo Alto and Friends of Heritage Park. Heritage Park had it's grand opening on March 12, 2006. At the time a slow economy and tight budget limited park amenities. Be sure to look for the large coast live oak anchored in the sand area. It was moved from Ramona St. to the park in 2003.
It's great fun in the winter to play at the park and then visit the special model train set-up at MOAH. I've been told it's quite a sight.
A very special thanks to Melissa for the park submission and the photos!
