Description
The swim lagoon at Don Castro is the park's main attraction. The lagoon has a cement bottom, playground type sand for its beaches, and EBMUD (filtered) water.
There is a large, shallow area that is roped off for tots to splash and wade in. Flotation devices are allowed in the shallow area between the shore and the rope. The lagoon is staffed with lifeguards who sit at three different locations around the lagoon.
The lagoon is open for swimming everyday during the summer from 11 am to 6 pm. There are many grassy areas and picnic areas plus bath houses for changing outside the swim lagoon.
Don Castro underwent major renovations in 2009. If you haven't been there since then, it looks different.
