Frontierland is such a fun park. The weekend we visited, there were several birthday parties going on. The pride of the park is Friendship Playground.
Friendship Playground was dreamt up by a group of Pacifica moms in 1999. They wanted a playground that would capture the wonder and excitement of childhood. In June of 2001, that dream became a reality when over 1200 volunteers came together for four days to build a wonderful playground.
We loved all of the climbing and balancing opportunities. A game of tag was great fun because of all the nooks and crannies to hide in and behind. Perhaps the most fun was the water spray. That needed to be ran through and tested out several times.
The tot lot area is perfect for little ones. It provides lots of chances for imaginary play. The whole playground is tanbark, so you don't have to worry about sand in shoes.
In addition to the playground, there's a 1/2 basketball court, a horseshoe pit, and a group picnic area. Frontierland is also home to Pacifica's annual hometown 4th of July Celebration complete with tug-o-war competition, water balloons, face painting, food, and more.
One thing to keep in mind is that the restrooms are really far from the playground. They're located across the field and up the hill. But's that's okay, because on the way back, it's so much fun to run/roll down the hill!
