Description
Dracena Quarry is a hidden neighborhood park. From Artuna, Ricardo, and El Cerrito Avenues it looks just like trees and a sloping lawn. But venture up the sloping lawn and you will find the play areas, and a big back lawn and path totally enclosed by the quarry's walls.
The play areas have sand and rubberized turf covering. Both sets of swings are wheelchair accessible. There is a small climbing wall with a net on the play structure, but an even bigger climbing wall sits on the other side of the hill waiting to be discovered.
A very neat feature of this park is its cement slide built into the hillside which leads down to the big climbing wall. There is also a sand area with big rocks and a water faucet that drops onto those rocks. I'm sure this is a great water/sand play area.
Because the upper lawn area is protected by the quarry walls and is totally visible from the play area, I felt safe letting my child explore the path on her own. There were also boys racing their Tonka trucks all around the path. Sorry there are not more pictures, my battery on my camera finally went kaput.
