Description

Dorothy M. Bolte Park is another one of Berkeley's parks that is terraced. The tot play area is visible from the street. Adults can take stairs, a ramp, or for the more adventurous, the 40 ft. cement slide down to the big kid play area. Kids will most likely take the slide.

The tot play area has a small play structure, an activity panel, and a ride-on rocker. The play area is half rubberized turf and half sand. It's fully accessible to the street, but there's a large, sloped grass area between the play area and the street. This should slow toddlers who make a run for it down.

Between the cement slide at Codornices and here, Cordornices wins. The sliding on this slide stops 10 to 15 feet short of the end. My daughter ended up walking down. She was a little disappointed.

The big kid play structure is totally set in sand and is really not toddler or even preschool age friendly. I was concerned enough about my 4 year old's attempt at the "stairs" to come rushing down when she started.
