Description
Dorada Park in Oakdale is a wonderful gem we found several years ago halfway to Yosemite from the Bay Area along Highway 120. Over the years it has made a great lunch spot for the kids to get out and stretch their legs during the four hour trip.
The park is special because of its extremely big and unique play structure entirely funded and built by the community, in particular, the Oakdale Rotary Club. It is right across from the Con Agra Dairy.
The wooden play structures are fort themed with whimsical paintings and dozens of nooks and crannies that a great for a game of hide and seek. There are four slides,a separate tot area, four tot swings, four big kid swings, a tire swing, dozens of climbing opportunities and a zip line. The entire play area is fenced in with only one opening.
A few picnic benches and the bathrooms are next to the play area. Most of the park and play structures are in shade. The community swimming pool is across from the play area.
Here's an indication of how much my daughter, who was two when we visited, liked it - the first time we told her it was time to leave she screamed, "NOOOOOOO!" And the second time we told her, she proceeded to screech into my husband's ear while being carried away squirming to get out and go back.
