Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo is formerly Marine World. Six Flags, the world's largest amusement park chain, bought the amusement/animal park in 1999.

At Discovery Kingdom there are 30 animal attractions with over 500 animals. We very much enjoyed the Killer Whale Show. The whale's name is Shouka and the show's song was The Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling". We went in June of 2010 and my daughter still requests "The Shouka Song".

There are over 44 rides at Discovery Kingdom ranging from lose your lunch (Medusa) to very kid friendly (Tava's Jungleland). Discovery Kingdom's website does an excellent job of describing each ride and possible requirements.

A number of rides also use The Flash Pass, but it is an extra cost at $30.00. For the little kids there isn't a Thomas The Tank Engine Area anymore. It must have been changed during the winter of 2010/2011. And for the big kids the newest ride in 2011 is the Sky Screamer which is a 15 story swing ride that spins at 43 mph!
