Description
Death Valley National Park has 3.4 million acres of desert and mountains, making it the largest national park in the contiguous United States. The possibilities for discovery are endless!
From hiking to camping to touring to photography to off-roading there is plenty to keep the average and not so average visitor engaged. One or two sites in Death Valley could probably be covered in a day, but the park is so huge it really requires overnight stays to take it all in. There are three places for lodging overnight and several campsites in Death Valley. Definitely make reservations ahead of time. Word of caution- even if you are just enjoying the sites and not doing any serious hiking, be sure to have more water than you think you'll need. The heat is deceptive and if you are dehydrated you will not enjoy the beauty at all.
Some of the major tourist sites in Death Valley are Scotty's Castle, Artist's Palette, Harmony Borax Works, Twenty Mule Team Canyon, Zabriskie Point, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Wildrose Charcoal Kilns, and Darwin Falls. Whether natural or man-made, each of these sites and the many more in Death Valley will make your trip there a rewarding one.
