Description

Central Park is Fremont's crown jewel among its park system. At 450 acres with an 83 acre lake, 4 play areas, numerous ball fields, the Fremont Main Library, and the Aqua Adventure Water Park, there is no shortage of things to do at this park.

Lake Elizabeth is Central Park's 83 acre lake. There is a 2 mile path around the lake that is great for walking or bike riding. Fishing is allowed. Weekends and holidays April through Sept. you can also rent kayaks, paddle boats or sailboats.

This park has so many amenities. There are six softball fields, ten soccer fields, two basketball courts, 18 tennis courts, 13 group picnic sites and four play areas. All four of the play areas were beautifully remodeled in early 2012. We were able to visit three of the play areas this trip.

The major play area is between Lake Elizabeth and Aqua Adventure. I was so impressed with the remodel. Before this play ground was a sad play ground with sand covering, metal play structures with peeling paint and unsafe gaps. Now, it's amazing! Unfortunately the small selection of photos I'm able to provide in this description doesn't do it justice. I love the spinning mushroom, the climbing rock, the tree slide, and forest climbing maze. These features are unique to this park, I've never seen structures like these all together before.

Redwood Playground is closer to Paseo Padre Parkway and the Fremont Community Center. It has been redone also. It has a pyramid climbing net, a big kid play structure and a tot play structure, and swings. The ground covering is rubberized turf.

The Always Dream Play Park is off of Stevenson Blvd by the soccer and baseball fields. I think this play area is the most fanciful and the best for tots. I love the shade umbrellas, the painted balls, and the bright colors used in the design.
