Description
Disney's California Adventure Park is next to Disneyland in Orange County. Downtown Disney, which is a shopping and restaurant district, separates the two parks. If the last time that you went was when it was just Disneyland, boy are you in for some surprises.
The park's theme is California's fascinating history and exciting future. The attractions, parades, and shows celebrate everything distinctly Californian from the gold rush to Hollywood's golden era to the special allure of the beach helping you to discover the vast and diverse Golden State.
California Adventure is often characterized as the more adult theme park, but that is not true. There are plenty of things for kids to do. Some of the very kid-friendly attractions are: King Triton's Carousel, Monster's, Inc. Mike and Sulley to The Rescue, Princess Dot Puddle Park (water park), Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, SS rustworthy, and Tuck and Roll's Drive'Em Buggies.
New in June of 2011 is Ariel's Undersea Adventure. And coming in 2012 is the much anticipated Cars Land. If you visit California Adventure now you can get a sneak peek at Cars Land from various spots in the park.
On my one visit there so far, I found that many of the attractions featured characters from recent joint Pixar/Disney movies. The park might be more appealing to you if you were familiar with these movies. Even without brushing up on your Disney knowledge, you'll be fine. After all, Disney parks pride themselves as being the one place anyone can be a kid again.
Special thanks to Jamie for the pictures.
