Description
Asilomar State Beach is a narrow, 1 mile strip of beach. Across from the beach is a meticulously restored natural dune preserve. There's a boardwalk that meanders through the 25 acres of sand dune ecosystem.
Asilomar is most famous for its conference centerdesigned by Julia Morgan. It's mostly used for groups, but individuals can book there too. The accommodations are very nice.
We loved playing in the sand and exploring the tide pool rocks. The people were very friendly and the sand is just perfect.
My best advice is to watch as you cross the road from the conference center and sand dune area to the beach. There's not a lot of walking space and the cars come around the bend quick.
