Dreamland Playground at Aquatic Park is a very cool adventure playground with a wooden fort theme. The playground has two somewhat separate play areas with tanbark covering and a small, enclosed water and sand play area. It's known to locals as Train Park since the Amtrak line runs right next to it.
The tot play area has a puppet theater with bench seating, two tot swings, a tube slide, and a small seating/gathering place. The big kid play area has two swings, a tire swing, a chained jungle gym net for climbing, a tunnel, two tube slides, and a unique rubber-running bridge.
There is a neat little walking garden area next to the playground and a small, fenced grass area with picnic benches beside that. On the south side of the playground there are big grass fields where we saw lots of kids flying kites.
Aquatic Park is a huge park that extends the whole length of Highway 80 from Ashby Ave in the south to University Ave in the north. It's the park where sometimes you can see water skiers or rowing teams practicing. There is a great walking and bike riding path that spans almost the entire length of the park on the east side of the water. The best way to get to the playground part is to take Bancroft Way until it dead ends at the park. Bancroft is one of the few streets that cross the railroad tracks.
